 still in love with sonoma…

after a full day of rain the sky was clear and the weather was warm. i can’t complain about the rain though because it was so relaxing and it gave us the perfect excuse for a spa day. our trip to sonoma was fantastic, although i think i may have gained ten pounds from eating soooo much (food posts to follow). anne kept saying “you are on vacation and if you don’t gain weight you didn’t have enough fun!” well, we had fun all right! as for my outfit, my dress is about ten years old which is vintage for my closet. i still love it. polka dots are always classic and easy to wear and mix with just about anything. another obsession? navy blue-i just can’t get enough!

till next time,

two girls in sonoma.

over the last few days i officially fell in love with sonoma. it’s such a beautiful and quaint place to visit. it’s also only about an hour from the city so it makes for the perfect getaway. anne and i did so many delightful things while we were there: a spa day, shopping (i made it 45 days and now i’m free at last!), and a whole lot of eating at fantastic restaurants. this is just a sneak peek at our sonoma getaway. it was the best girl trip ever and i cannot wait to go back with brian!

p.s. we hit a vintage goldmine at a consignment store in sonoma square called church mouse. it was awesome!

easy breezy.

yesterday my week long vacation officially started and i was so happy to relax at home with the fam. in fact, i was so happy about it that i lounged around in pajamas all day. the goal being not to let that happen daily.  so my excruciatingly painful shopping hiatus will be coming to an end in a couple of days and i’m looking forward to doing some thrifting and outlet shopping, mostly thrifting though. i’ve come to realize that it’s my vintage clothing that gets the most wear and an added bonus is that it costs so much less. i guess the lesson is: spend much less and wear much more! like this vintage shirt layered under my sweater. brian and i picked up this awesome shirt at a street sale in the mission for two bucks and i love it! so this week i’ll be on a leisurely exploration for vintage. i’m hoping to find some great vintage shops in napa and sonoma when we head up there this week. i’m ready for a peaceful week of relaxation and light shopping. let mission vintage begin (in two days when this thing FINALLY ends!).

simple things.

honestly yesterday was a poopy day. actually, it’s kinda been a poopy week (i won’t go into all the gory details). suffice to say, it’s been one of those weeks.  i really needed to wind down and take this roller coaster ride called life a little less seriously. so brian and i walked out to the parking lot and messed around with the camera for a bit. we were laughing and of course, he was making fun of me for being the big dork that i am. i felt so much better after that. sometimes i need to slow down and take stock in the simple things, and be thankful for all the great things in my life: my husband, family, friends, and my furry babies, all of whom i love dearly. <3

now to revel in acting a fool. laughter makes everything better. it’s as simple as that. toddles!

hey y’all! happy spring!  i wish i could say this was my outfit for the first day of spring but it wasn’t. i actually wore this outfit last weekend when we were having a ton of rainfall. so when the rain stopped for a moment i busted out some wedges and decided to wear something bright and colorful to counter the cloudy weather. magenta tights and a floral dress were my go to pieces for the afternoon. i love to illuminate my day with a bright ensemble every now and again- especially on cloudy days. and by the way, i’m currently obsessed with these magenta tights so they will make another appearance soon. what’s your current color obsession?

have a wonderful week everyone!

blouse: f21   shorts/cardigan/tights: jcrew  necklace: vintage  shoes: all star converse  watch: michael kors

after anne and i left the ferry building we headed back to my place before going to see a band called preteen at thee parkside. in typical sf weather fashion, it was much colder and breezier than it had been earlier in the day. therefore, it was time for a swift outfit change. but i couldn’t ditch those dang denim shorts! so i kept the shorts and tights but switched the rest up a little. i changed into a floral blouse that i haven’t worn in years and added a thicker sweater into the mix. then my brain warmed up to the idea of wearing some cozy converse and soon thereafter my feet were snuggled in. i’m a huge fan of high top converse with just about anything, not to mention they are the best shoes for shows and dancing. by the end of the night my feet thanked my brain. my comfort mission was accomplished!
