all mine.

i’m so excited that this peter pan collar sweater is mine… mine… ALL mine! thanks to my friends dave and david who got me a gift card to jcrew for my b-day (not to mention this beautiful necklace from tiffany’s that has been around my neck since the moment it came out of the box). now about this sweater, it’s the perfect piece for the autumn season and will easily carry me into winter. it’s very similar to the one i posted here. dare i say better? yes, it’s even better! i can’t wait to pair it with skirts and tights, denim, and layer it over dresses! this garnet sweater will be the gift that keeps on giving for years to come.

p.s. even though i had a gift card i still didn’t pay full price for this lovely girl. my friend anne and i combined items on one order to receive 25% off and free shipping! let’s just say i’m not big on paying full price unless i absolutely have to. unfortunately, there are certain items that never go on sale. ever. SIGH!

update: it arrived and i love it! the color and fit are perfect!

foreign cinema.

this birthday year i decided i wanted to eat, eat, and eat some more and that i did! in good company, of course! i’m so grateful that i was able to celebrate the passing of yet another year (time flies!) with my husband brian and friends that are more like family. saturday night brian, our “frimily”(amy, anne, alexis, and jen), my brother-in-law cory, and i went to foreign cinema. we had such a great time! the atmosphere was really beautiful and the food was yummy. it’s the perfect place for a date or small dinner party! also, we all enjoyed seeing the projection of the red violin. i will be renting that film now. it looks like my eternal video renting issue will be resolved for at least one visit to lost weekend video.

mmm, CHEESECAKE!

my lovely ladies: anne and alexis.

now for a lil’ instagram action…

jen, i love you!

hey, let’s find each other on instagram!

bar tartine.

i’m often asked what my all time favorite restaurant is in the city and to be honest, i was never able to give a definite answer- until now. the other night, to celebrate my growing another year older (hints about my exact age are in this post!), brian and i headed to bar tartine, which is now my favorite restaurant in the city. and since i’m on this trying to learn how to cook kick, i will need to get a hold of the bar tartine cookbook. every single item we tried was to die for. seriously!

they have the best bread ever! it comes from their bakery tartine. i mean to tell you, that bread is something else! they serve the bread with high grade olive oil mixed with fennel. there are no words!

i’m ashamed that i didn’t get photos of all the food and drinks we ordered. i was sort of a slacker this time. brian was really hungry and sometimes he (understandably) gets tired of waiting for me to take photos before we start eating. i’m one of those. hehe… it’s annoying.

this is the dish that brian ate as his main, but he let me try some. sunflower seed, peeled tomatoes, and avocado dip. DELISH!

these were the best brussel sprouts i have ever had! who would think to throw some mint in there? amazing! seriously, i couldn’t get over how fantastic these brussel sprouts were. i mean i think brian wanted to tell me to shut up at the table because i was ranting and raving incessantly about how much i loved them. he didn’t though- instead he saved the last bites for me. i love that man!

the pickled red cabbage was really good- savory and crunchy. we loved the hints of ginger.

this beet tart was simply scrumptious! it was vegan too… they just put the ice cream and meringue on the side for me. mmmm!

so going back to the thesis of this post, hands down, bar tartine was by far the best restaurant i’ve had in the city. every detail was satisfying and perfect! tonight we are heading to foreign cinema for dinner. let’s see how they measure up. perhaps, i will have a sf’s best list soon. :)

happy eating!

i looove my birthday booties! brian got me these awesome boots for my birthday (and a smiths record which i got to listen to while getting ready for our date at bar tartine!). anyway, if you love the rachel comey boots, but don’t want to plunk down all that cash, then you should check out the variety of booties at madewell (all about half the price of some comey’s). nothing celebrates getting another year older like some strutable booties. uh huh! my husband is a smart man, he knows that way to my heart is through a new pair of shoes (the flowers, date, and record were pretty sweet too). he’s the best present of all!

p.s. want to get some well deserved shopping in? you know you do! get an additional 25% off madewell sale items and it’s the last day for an additional 30% off sale items at jcrew. get it girls!

last night i had so much fun enjoying an artsy girls night out with anne and amy. we went to sfmoma, which is one of my favorite museums in the city (half off on thursday evenings- woo-hoo!). then we walked across the street and had dinner at samovar tea lounge. it was a relaxing way to spend a thursday evening, casual and low key. it’s something we need to do during the week more often to make the workweek less mundane. speaking of the workweek, i’m so glad it’s about to be over. i want to sleep in! have a relaxing weekend, everyone!

outside of sfmoma, waiting to cross the street…
