there’s nothing like a blazer to make me (and my day) feel more put together. it’s been one of those days. hell, it’s been one of those weeks! and this outfit has me wishing i was sipping on a black & tan instead of merely wearing it. sheeesh, this girl needs a break. i’m so ready for the three day weekend and i’m hoping it’s filled with biking, cooking, listening to records, taking photographs, and above all, sleeping in. a museum day and/or visit to the botanical gardens will definitely be thrown into the mix as well. ah, we’re almost there. enjoy!

i know you might be thinking “enough with the stripes already, girl!” but i can’t help it… i have a sea of stripes in my closet and i love them all.  i decided to take a spring/summer dress and remix it for the sunny yet chilly weather. all the dress needed was a bright sweater and my favorite grey tights and i was on my way. get ready to see more remixing on the blog. brian and i are going to nyc in march and i would like to stop (or majorly cut back) on shopping so that i can do some there. can’t wait for that! tons of beautiful clothes and fashionable new yorkers… sign me up!

hi everyone! it’s been awhile. getting outfits shot has proven to be extremely difficult lately. i’m looking forward to longer days! about this outfit, i really enjoyed wearing it since the fabric and ease made me feel like i was walking around in pajamas all day. also, the details of stripes and polka dot tights, black and copper, finished with a top knot and red lips gave the look an edgy yet sophisticated feel. i have to note that this blog has helped me refine my style and learn, even more so, what works for me and what doesn’t. i feel most confident in classic looks (ahem, stripes, black, navy, seas of booties, high waist skirts) so i gravitate toward them. hey it’s always nice to have tried and true go-to looks, right?

p.s. i’ve gone on a monthly shopping budget that i’m really trying to stick to. but i had to tell you all that j.crew and madewell are having an extra 40% off sale. and yes i ordered something. damn it! went over budget by 30 bucks. fail.

last night i had so much fun enjoying an artsy girls night out with anne and amy. we went to sfmoma, which is one of my favorite museums in the city (half off on thursday evenings- woo-hoo!). then we walked across the street and had dinner at samovar tea lounge. it was a relaxing way to spend a thursday evening, casual and low key. it’s something we need to do during the week more often to make the workweek less mundane. speaking of the workweek, i’m so glad it’s about to be over. i want to sleep in! have a relaxing weekend, everyone!

as i read my favorite blogs and see all of the posts about fall fashion i can’t help but get excited! i’m ready for the season change both stylistically and experientially. as far as fall stylings are concerned, i’m looking forward to more denim, dresses with tights (textured tights and polka dot tights!) and earthy hues: brown, mustard, rust, and orange! lots of exciting happenings are on the horizon as well. my birthday is coming up in a couple weeks so i’m planning a few mini celebrations… all involving food! hey, a girl’s gotta eat and i’m making sure i eat very  well for my bday. woo-hoo! reservations are already made at foreign cinema! bar tartine! and 25 lusk! and i can’t wait. then, in october brian and i will celebrate our nine year anniversary and i’m in the midst of planning something cool for our special milestone. i’m hoping we can go to big sur.

as for this outfit, i really love this blouse which is as comfortable as a pajama top, silky and flowy (also featured here). i’ve noticed pajama-esque pieces seem to be a fall favorite among other stylish bloggers as i took note of other gals (here and here) basking in the comfort and effortlessness.

on sunday i was beyond grumpy. for some reason i was really stressed and being a real goober. ultimately brian, like the wonderful man he is, convinced me to get dressed and go out to meet some friends. in the end, putting an outfit together, getting out in the fresh air, and jumping around made me feel better. somehow acting silly always puts me in a better mood.

as for the outfit, it was another day in the same chambray. i really love this basic that wears well with just about anything, including my favorite corduroy circle skirt. well that’s all for now. brian just walked in the door with some packages. please let one be the vintage coach willis bag i’ve been waiting for…

good morning everyone! this morning has truly been a glorious one. i got this outfit shot, won a bidding war for a vintage gucci bag on ebay, hit the coffee shop, and made it to work all before 7:30. that’s a major feat for me considering i’m not exactly a morning person. obviously, the greatest highlight of my morning (besides my coffee which i cannot live without) was winning that vintage bag! i’m on a bit of a vintage bag kick lately (something i sincerely need to rein in). another great highlight was putting on my new super cozy and breathable sweater from madewell that i got for ¼ of the original price. i love me a good steal of a deal. have you found any great deals you would like to brag about? i would love to hear about them. any super sales we should all know about?!

the only things that made this outfit look less pajama-like were the flower pin and wedges. i was super cozy all day long and that’s just the way i like it!  the best part about this outfit, aside from the cozy factor, is that all together it was around forty dollars, shoes and bag included. gotta love that!
