go giants!

last night my friend amy and i went to our first giants game. we were super laggers and only made it for the last two innings. but we did make it in time to grab some beers. priorities! we had fun even though the giants lost the game. afterwards we ended the night with escape from new york pizza and another beer in the neighborhood. ah, the guilt. we had such a great time so it was worth it. but i have to admit a major run is on my agenda tonight!

while in nyc i was all about navy… as usual!  new york was pretty awesome. i had never been there before and i wondered if i would have the itch to move there after visiting. i came to the realization that i could do it for a year if i was a trust fund baby and i could come back to my sf apartment after my adventure on the east coast came to a close. i’m dreamin’. point being- i love nyc, but i’m a san francisco girl through and through. while visiting i stayed with my friends erika and beau. they showed me all around manhattan and brooklyn. we visited museums, central park, soho, the chelsea market, greenwich village, williamsburg, and much more. i can’t wait to go back for another visit. but i think it’s going to be awhile until that happens. sigh.

c/o me.

independent fashion bloggers recently published this article discussing bloggers who fake receiving clothes and accessories to seem like they’re running “highly influential” blogs (i.e. massive readership). i thought this was quite interesting and wondered what your thoughts are on the scintillating subject (haha). i mean, are bloggers always completely forthcoming? i think not. nor do we need to be. we share the details we feel comfortable sharing and leave out the details we don’t. and i think most personal style/lifestyle bloggers would be lying if they said they wouldn’t enjoy the perks of receiving freebies from their favorite designers and shops (seriously, who wouldn’t?). but to lie about it? hmmm. actually, i tend to prefer bloggers that have a balance of courtesy of items and personal purchases. obviously, i relate more to bloggers who purchase their own goods (even if only part of the time) because that’s what i do. that’s what most of us do. so it’s nice when more influential bloggers admit from time to time that they saved their hard earned cash and plunked it down for a piece they really loved versus every single item being c/o. it’s simply more relatable and for me, that’s what blogging is about.

so is faking it okay? don’t many bloggers choose to omit things from time to time? well, i know i do. i mean seriously, who wants to make their blog a laundry list of complaints and who wants to read that? you get the picture. and perhaps it’s a blogger’s creative license to play a role, the role of a successful blogger. as they say, blogs should tell a story. so why shouldn’t a blogger try to make their audience think they are more ”influential” than they really are? who’s to judge? all i know is, on my blog i’m proud to admit that what i have was paid for by me and if something was gifted from family or friends, secondhand, thrifted, or found on super sale, i state that as well. i’m also not afraid to share that i don’t have massive readership, but i do have a number of awesome and supportive readers, whom i value and appreciate (thank you for reading!). now, i highly doubt i will ever have the luxury of typing c/o next to items on this blog. so here’s my one opportunity, everything in this post was c/o me! haha.

no matter what level of “success” my blog garners, there is no point in faking it. i’m proud to say that the only items i paid full price for in this post were the ray bans and the f21 beanie (about 5 bucks). everything else was an additional 30, 40, or 50 percent off the sale price. my maxi skirt was 15.12 after tax (found in store) and i will wear the hell out of it! i’m an everyday girl on a teacher’s salary and i shop sales. bam! authenticity. so, what are your thoughts on the subject?

p.s. another deal finder, who always keeps it real, is brooklyn based blogger erika of teachers have lives too. she a great friend of mine with a great blog… check her out! you may also want to check out arizona based blogger amy of amy’s vintage closet and tennessee based blogger cayce of for the roses. these gals have distinctive style with tons of vintage incorporated into their looks!

with spring on the horizon i couldn’t help but gather some dream garments and accessories for the season, especially since i won’t be shopping until then anyway. good thing there’s always polyvore to give me my “shopping” fix. when i do get to hit the stores again i’ll be eyeing lots of black and white, orange (those swedish hasbeens are so cute), and navy. a pinafore is a must this spring as well. i’m sure these picks aren’t much of a surprise (maybe even predictable?). these pieces would be perfect for picnics, trips to the museum, and little adventures with brian. any dreamy pieces or colors you’re looking forward to this spring?
p.s. i know i’m on hiatus, but that backpack is perfect for travel. let’s hope i don’t fail too soon.

black & tan.

there’s nothing like a blazer to make me (and my day) feel more put together. it’s been one of those days. hell, it’s been one of those weeks! and this outfit has me wishing i was sipping on a black & tan instead of merely wearing it. sheeesh, this girl needs a break. i’m so ready for the three day weekend and i’m hoping it’s filled with biking, cooking, listening to records, taking photographs, and above all, sleeping in. a museum day and/or visit to the botanical gardens will definitely be thrown into the mix as well. ah, we’re almost there. enjoy!

beach baby.

today was such a lovely day! the weather was so nice that brian and i headed out to the beach where we walked around, grabbed lunch, and snapped some photos. it’s so awesome that we were able to dress so lightly and go to the beach in the middle of winter. i sure do love california “winters”.

this weekend was really relaxing which is exactly the way i like it. friday night brian and i went on a date to gracias madre for dinner and then caught up on crap tv (a favorite pass time of mine when i’m absolutely exhausted and just want to zone out). then, saturday night we had friends over for dinner (pasta, dill and roasted garlic white bean dip and veggies, rosemary focaccia, and a yummy salad) and a movie. aside from heading to the beach and hanging around the apartment, i also ran seven miles and got some “spring” cleaning done. all in all, this weekend was the perfect balance of relaxation and productivity!
